Adventuresome Aging Program (AAP)
The Adventuresome Aging Program (AAP) is an early memory loss support and excursion program for dependent adults. The program is an alternative to our day program, and provides community outings and social contact.
AAP meets at the Friendship Center Santa Barbara on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a cup of coffee, some goodies, and a "get-to-know-you" support group. Topics for discussion vary from current happenings to the destination of that day’s trip to group members’ likes and dislikes. Strong friendships are often formed in this group. Members then board a Friendship Center van and go for lunch and an adventure. Some of the recent destinations of this happy group have been Lotusland, The Santa Barbara County Courthouse, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art for tours. The group then goes to a local restaurant for lunch, or has a picnic at a park on sunny, warm days.
The AAP program provides social interaction and good, old-fashioned fun in the community for those who are mobile and have early memory loss.
