ADVENTURESOME AGING ACTIVITY PROGRAM

Adventuresome Aging is an early stages Alzheimers support and activity program for elders who enjoy connecting with friends and their community.

The Program meets at the Friendship Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a cup of coffee, some goodies, and a "get-to- know-you" support group. Topics for discussion vary from current happenings, to the destination of that day’s trip, to group member’s likes and dislikes. Strong friendships are often formed in this group. Members then board a Friendship Center bus and go for lunch and an adventure. Some of the recent destinations of this happy group have been Lotusland, The Santa Barbara County Courthouse, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Art for tours.

Picnics at the Botanical Gardens, Chase Palm Park, and other outdoor locations are enjoyed whenever possible. The group takes walks at different scenic locations in the area, and always enjoys a meal together at local restaurants.
On Wednesdays, the Center offers a Hispanic Adventuresome Aging Program. With this program, Hispanic members go out into the community for picnics and outings with a Hispanic, bilingual staff member.

This is a wonderful program for those in the early stages of Alzheimers, who have some memory loss, but wish to maintain connection with friends and be active in the community.
