Friendship Adult Day Care Center, Inc.

Friendship Center’s mission is to offer engaging activities that promote socialization, wellbeing, and a sense of community for aging adults. We provide respite, support and education for their caregivers, enabling them to achieve balance in their lives. Friendship Center is the only non-profit adult day services program providing affordable services of its kind that serves south Santa Barbara County, with locations in Goleta and Montecito. We have a compassionate and committed team and Board of Directors that respect the history and lives of our members and their caregivers. Program Specialist Full-Time

We are searching for kind, fun, enthusiastic, talented activities and program specialists to work with our adult day program participants in our center in Montecito serving those with dementia and developmental disabilities.

Program Specialists assist in developing, planning, and leading fun program activities for our members. They perform a variety of functions related to the overall operation of our centers including assisting with activities like musical entertainment and sing-alongs, outings, food service, and special events. Assistance with personal care including bathrooming, companionship, and some maintenance and cleaning are also required.

Ideal program specialists are compassionate individuals who enjoy working with older adults, have positive and effective communication skills, work well with other staff, members, volunteers, and families, have a can-do attitude, and pitch in to do whatever is needed.

Note: During our hybrid program, activities may be conducted in-person with our members or virtually over Zoom. Program Specialists are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination, be able to wear a mask, and practice hand-washing, sanitization, and social distancing. Must be proficient in Zoom program and able to provide tech support to caregivers when needed.

Requirements include First Aid and CPR certification, physical exam and TB clearance, a clean driving record, valid driver’s license and insurance, and fingerprint clearance. Experience caring for elders or those with disabilities preferred.

This position includes work in-person at our Montecito Center for 30-40 per week with hours varying Monday-Friday between 8am-5pm. No nights or weekends!

Salary range: DOE.
