A gift that promises your enduring legacy: Join the Friendship Circle

Friendship Circle recognizes donors who name Friendship Center in their wills or trusts, those who make planned gifts to the Center, as well as donors who have made significant lifetime gifts. Please let us know if you have included Friendship Center in your legacy giving, so that we may acknowledge you for your gift and include you in our revered Friendship Circle.

To leave a gift in your will, trust, or by beneficiary designation, you can use the following language or Tax ID number.

“I give [the residue of my estate], or [ _____% of the residue of my estate], or [the sum of ________dollars] to Friendship Adult Day Care Center, Inc. (Friendship Center) whose address is currently 89 Eucalyptus Lane, Santa Barbara California 93108 in support of its full mission.”
Tax ID#: 95-3398938

A gift that pays you income
When you create a charitable gift annuity or a charitable trust, you enjoy many benefits.

A charitable gift annuity (CGA) provides annual payments at a fixed amount every year. Your rate is based on your age when you begin payments and will never change. A charitable gift annuity is a simple document created by Friendship Center for you to review.

With a charitable remainder trust, you have the maximum amount of flexibility. You also choose whether you wish to receive a fixed amount every year or a fixed percentage based on the trust’s value at the end of each year.

By making these gifts, you will save on taxes through charitable deductions, reduced capital gains taxes and/or tax-free portions of payments.

Gifts from a donor-advised fund
If you have a donor-advised fund, please consider making a grant recommendation to Friendship Center.

Your gift will help us continue providing high quality care for adults living with dementia, and their caregivers, at an extremely low cost to families in need of our support.

Provide the following information to the institution that manages your DAF or retirement account:

A gift that comes with significant tax savings

Making a gift to Friendship Center through your retirement plan account is one of the most tax-wise gifts you can make. Because most retirement plans are taxed differently than other funds, they may actually become a tax liability if left to loved ones.

As a tax-exempt organization, Friendship Center receives 100 percent of your gift to create your enduring legacy.

Information about Required Minimum Distribution (RMD).

RMD is the smallest amount account holders must withdraw from employer-sponsored retirement plans each year once they reach retirement. If you are the account owner of a retirement account and have reached age 73, you have an RMD.

If you fail to withdraw your RMD, the amount not withdrawn will be taxed at 50%.

How Do I Donate My RMD to Friendship Center?

  1. Find out what your minimum is this year (you can use these worksheets)

  2. Decide which account(s) to make withdrawals from, and how much of that withdrawal you plan to give

  3. Make your gift. Up to $100,000 of your distribution from an employer-sponsored retirement account (including but not limited to your RMD) is a qualified charitable distribution. Make your donation by December 31 to qualify this year.

  4. Collect your benefits. When you file your taxes for the year, include your donation on the relevant tax document (Form 1099-R,  1040, or 8606).

*the above information is to provide light information on giving options. Please speak with your advisors for any legal or financial decision-making support.*
